Awful costumer service. I called to make reservations for kayaking using a Living Social Deal. Because of the good response to the Living Social Deal, the weekends were booked. The owner, Josh, answered the telephone. I asked him if he would extend the expiration date, so I could use it on a weekend. He told me "No way!" He was extremely rude and hung up on me when I told him that I was going to write a bad review. I called back to confirm my reservation, and he told me that he was not going to have any more bad reviews. I told him "Perhaps if we have a nice time, I won't write a bad review." He said "Then, perhaps you won't have a reservation." He told me that he has been working 14 hour days and doesn't have time for bad reviews. The good news is that Living Social has great customer service. They gave me a credit and voided the Crazy Fish voucher.

Food was ok but overall it was overpriced. Nice view but dinner was nothing special.

NO! The only thing they do well is their ad in the paper. I call it the one time ad - go once based on the ad and never go back. I guess they can make it drawing people in once on the ad. Need I say more...DON'T go to Crazy Fish - spare youself the misery. If you do, you have been warned and will probably join the rest of the people writing the bad reviews.

I changed my mind about going here several times after reading all of the horrible reviews on yelp and on other sites. In the end my desire to use my restaurant.com certificate won! I have to report that my experience was certainly not horrible. We were greeted immediately upon walking in the door by a gentleman I assume was the manager. I had read some people had some pretty negative things to say about him, and my impression was that he seemed to have a little bit of a dark sense of humor and I think he is pretty demotivated by the lack of business. The immediate greeting included asking if we had reservations...which seemed a bit odd because there was no one else anywhere near the restaurant and I'm pretty confident none were on the books, but again this could have been his sense of humor as he said that he would try to work us in...clearly humor. You do have to order food at the bar and then seat yourself and your food is served. Our food came out fast and was fresh, flavorful and well prepared. The shrimp were a good size and were perfectly cooked. I did not find any of the food too heavily breaded as some as commented. In fact, the breading was just perfect. The portion size was a bit on the small side, yet I would rather sacrifice portion size for quality. I think the restaurant could benefit by implementing a few cheap changes in this area like being a little heavy on the fries and maybe including a couple of cheap hush puppies on the plate and also some crackers and cream cheese type spread to both give the visual impression of more food and to allow customers to actually leave feeling full as many people won't come back if they don't leave feeling full. Two in my party of 4 had a salad as one of their sides and it came on the plate with the hot food. The portion size of the salad was incredibly small and being served on a plate with hot food is not how I ever like being served a salad. We did not leave full, but we were satisfied. The restrooms were clean as was the inside and outside of the restaurant. This is in a dock area, so there are some smells that many inland restaurant do not have, but if you been to these types of fairly casual seafood places before, then you get exactly what you expect. There were quite a few cats running around and we sat outside to enjoy the beautiful sunset and gorgeous fall weather and every now and then I go a whiff of cat urine...so that's a negative, but I'm guessing the cats earn their keep patrolling for other creatures in this environment. I'm not sure that I would recommend this place, but I would not dissuade anyone from giving it a try. A parting thought - when redeeming the restaurant.com certificate it did seem odd that they add the 18% service charge to an already overly priced meal considering you order and pay at the counter and the only service you have is when your food is served (we did get a check back, but when we were finished, and our beverages were allowed to empty well before we were finished with our food). I really like to see local places succeed. If you go here with lower expectations, you'll be happy. If you have higher expectations, really do choose someplace else. My visit may indicate that the owner is trying to take some of the feedback to heart. It's hard to bring life back into a restaurant after the buzz has mostly been negative...and this will be their greatest challenge. Oh, and they only take cash. I saw a credit card receipt on the counter by the register, but there is a large sign that says cash only. This was an inconvenience and since none of us carry hardly any cash we had to pool our money together. The owner said it was to save on costs, but the 1-2% they take for processing credit cards may not be worth inconveniencing a customer. I also found it odd that their web site does not include any prices...frustrating when they market as being inexpensive, but they really aren't.

We went for my sisters birthday because we heard it was good. It honestly was the worst place Ive ever been! There was only one server staffed (not her fault), she told us this & apologized for things taking so long. Again not her fault. Once she told us she was the only server I started looking around. Apparently the owner was there as well. He dropped off one of our drinks (there were 7 of us) & I never saw him again. I went outside to use my phone before we got our entrees & he was sitting on a table talking his phone. Being in the service industry, I was very perplexed. So when I sat back down I asked if he was a manager, owner, bartender or even worked there and she answered "he's the owner." Are you kidding me? I got the feeling this was the way things always worked around there. I ofcourse filled out the comment card. I'm sorry, but its not your servers fault that you dont know how to staff your rest., or you that as an owner you cant step in to help out. The food was subpar even if just a seafood shack. Again being in the service industry I cant imagine working for someone like this It that a place like this would ever last.

My husband found out about Crazy Fish online & since we are fairly new to Jax we like trying out new places to eat. The outdoor seating is fantastic, right on the water and the weather lately has been perfect for it. It's a casual place - you order at the front and they bring it to your table when it's ready. For appetizers we had the seafood egg roll (which was more like a burrito than an egg roll - it was huge!) and the calamari. My husband LOVED the seafood egg roll & vows to return so he can eat that as his entree sometime soon. I personally think the calamari was wonderful- the best I've had...and I've had a lot! We shared the crab cake platter and it was equally delish. The cakes were not breaded too much and the hushpuppies that came on the side were amazing. They were fairly large, but so worth the carbs! I also had the fried okra & sweet plantains. The place is affordable, cozy & it offers you water activities right there off the restaurant dock. We really liked it! Oh, and it's CASH ONLY! So come prepared! (though we didn't have cash and they did take a credit card)

This was a tough one. I originally was going to give Crazy Fish "2" Stars... but when my wife got very sick to her stomach right after her meal... I had to go the "1" Star route. I purchased a Restaurant.com certificate for Crazy Fish.... and only after did I check Yelp did I realize I might have made a mistake based on previous reviews. But... I am always open to giving a place a chance. And I have to say... everyone was right! My overall observations are: -PRICE: Prices are WAY too high! Frigging $18 bucks for a average size piece of fish. Should have been no more than $11.95. My wife ordered the lobster dish for **$25**! It was the SMALLEST lobster I have ever seen served..... and did I say TWENTY FIVE BUCKS! My wife was still very hungry after eating her dish, so she ordered a shrimp cocktail. That actually was half decent. But something made her real sick... and I am thinking it might have been the shrimp. - FOOD: My blackened "Red Fish" was actually pretty tasty. I also had a side salad (which was OK... large portion), and the broccoli. The portion was average and in my opinion, very pricey. - SERVICE: You order from a board, and they bring the food to your table. You serve yourself your own drinks. Our food took a while to get. We got our salads with our dinner, not before as an appetizer. - ATMOSPHERE: We sat outside and the views are amazing! It was a really pretty sunset. And it was cool to watch the boats come in and out. But there were a LOT of bugs out, and a TON of flys!!! They seemed to really like the food. One thing you will see to is a LOT of cats roaming about. There is a large deck with lots of outside seating. The inside is not very attractive. In Conclusion.... I will NOT ever be back to Crazy Fish. The ONLY saving grace was the fact that we had a Restaurant .com certificate, so we saved a few bucks. But we still paid way too much for our meals. There was a crowd gathering as we were leaving, and they were informing everyone that they were out of a lot of items, and there was a 30 minute delay in the kitchen getting food out. Things seemed to be teetering on chaos. I was very glad to be out of there. Maybe Gordon Ramsey can come do an episode of Kitchen Nightmares here! :)

didn't eat there but did the Dolphin Limo tour for an hour. Very expensive ($99 for an hour) but they were offering 1/2 price tickets. I think the airboat ride would have been more fun.

We are always up for trying something new and we read what we thought was a review, but turned out to be an advertisement for Crazy Fish. The article mentioned the view, which was very scenic. It mentioned unbeatable prices on quality seafood. But the article failed to mention the portions. Ok, we started with the Crazy Dip, supposed to be a mixture of seafood and spices. It was tasty but the portion was like one of those bathroom mini dixie cups for $6.99. There was one large shrimp hanging off the side of said dixie cup. We knew it was not going to be a good experience at that point. Our sandwiches of choice were the Crazy Lobster sandwichs. Yes, there was lobster, but lots of celery, red onion and tomato. On a ho-hum bum. They were like $10.99. What side order did we want? Well, lets try the dirty chips, hopefully some yummy home made batch, but alas, it was a bag of chips called Dirty Chips. They were not lying. We are not bargain hunters when it comes to eats, but really, a grocery store bun with a tablespoon of lobster. It's crazy that we spent $60.00 and left hungry. The key word here is Crazy.

The Airboat ride is really fun! We saw a dolphin on the way back. It was so close! There were other animals, too, but they were at a distance. Birds and jumping fish, mostly. We had a great guide, too. 4 stars for the hour-long air boat ride. We arrived at Crazy Fish an hour before our airboat ride, so we decided to eat something first. Their ordering system is like so (it has changed from the traditional waiter system to this one): The menu is on the chalkboard, so make sure you read it ahead of time. You're in line and there will be people waiting behind you, so it's a good thing to know what to order so you can make it fast. For the type of restaurant (casual dining with fried seafood), the prices are pretty high in my opinion. Once you get to the front, there are 2 guys taking orders. You must pay upfront before getting your food. If you want to order the airboat ride, there is a specific guy handling that, so make sure you place your order for any of the kayak rentals or airboat ride stuff with him. You must order before boarding, and you must be ready at least 10 minutes before your ride. Before we knew it, the hour had flown by and we still hadn't had anything to eat. At least we were served the drinks, but that was all. To their credit, they were OK with us cancelling the order, no questions asked. If you want to take the airboat ride or rent kayaks or go on the kayak tours, it's a beautiful area to explore. If you want to get food, go right ahead, but do this on a slow day when you have plenty of free time to chit chat and wait for your order.

Food was good, i had the "groupa ruben" which was a fantastic choice! The view outside on the deck was very nice on the water and the staff was courteous and prompt. The price is a little high but with the location and outside deck dining on the water it was worth it!

Food was very good but overpriced I understand what other reviewers have written about the owner so don't go in expecting to get your butt kissed. Still I'd go back fresh fish and great views of the river and marina, would make me return. These guys rent and charter "boats" their kayaks are el cheapo but otherwise worth the ride.

We went on the one hour air boat tour. This was the laid back version of an air boat ride. If you are looking for any thrills don't do this. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about the bird habitat and we saw some dolphins on the way back which was nice. I don't think the dolphin were part of the tour but it was the best part.

Not really sure what all the bad reviews were about, but I really liked this place. It was a great laid back atmosphere, the food was delish, and it's in an awesome tucked away location. If it wasn't for our friends looking this place up on yelp we literally wouldn't have known the place was there. It's located next to the boat launch for the inter coastal across from the adventure landing entrance on the other side of beach bl. The road that leads there literally looks like it leads nowhere. Good food, great location, and awesome perks like kayak tours, fan boat tours which we will be trying the future, and affordable prices.

If you like sunsets on the water and beer and wine. Go to Crazy Fish. It is right across the docks located behind the Jax Beach Marina on Beach Blvd. The activity of boats and birds is nice to watch and worth the time spent. We went on a lazy Saturday afternoon thinking we would hang out, have a couple and snack on some good seafood. The deck out back was packed and the sun was beating down. Only about every other table had an umbrella, so the rest of us sweat while eating or go inside. Inside is cool of course, but the window is to high to enjoy the scenery if you are sitting down. Dilemma! We ordered a soda and a cup of their Crab, Lobster, and Shrimp Chowder...............5.99 Cup or 8.99 for a bowl. 2 whole lobster tails served hot with hot butter. That's what the menu says, but I could't find them. Depending on the chowder we would order more. The portion was okay, but the consistency and flavor were off. I think thick when I order chowders, but this was a thinner base. The flavor, while okay, was not something I would go back for. It was as if they wanted to do something different, a personal spin on chowder and it fell short. I might try something else on another day. But for now, I am content just hanging for the scenery and a cold drink.

Love this place for personal fun. Staff is friendly and accommodating and they remember you quickly! Food is well above average but I'm no snobby foodie either. We keep coming back for the whole package-wonderful view, local laid back atmosphere and good music paired with warm service and a good meal it's well worth finding! I even brought clients in for the airboat ride and they accommodated us instantly! And they do accept credit cards now-no reason not to go!

Do yourself a favor and DON'T GO HERE. This place is terrible. We made reservations weeks prior to kayak and when we arrived they said they were out of kayaks and we would have to make another reservation......REALLY????? I had one for my friends and I that was why we were there!! So we thought about staying for food and drinks but noticed roaches is the place and decided that was also a bad idea. As I left in frustration the owner and waitress were out side complaining about demanding customers. Being the only customers around I guess its our fault for being upset about them not holding our reservation. Go to Kayak Amelia if you want water sports and for food go to Nippers its right next door and much cleaner and nicer!

Yes; It's hard to find, and has a nice setting. Our waitstaff was excellent too; very accommodating, and friendly to say the least. Now for the not so good....No liqueur license, but they offer some weird concoction of a wine base liqueur that is legal with license they have that substitutes vodka; anyway that is not so good after we tried it. The lobster we ordered which is their claim to fame with prices advertised are the size of one # 10 shrimp at best. The entrees are fusion food size. For what it costs this place is a joke, and we left hungry. I gave it two stars primarily for the outstanding waitress otherwise it would have got a one star.

Last weekend we went to Crazy Fish, mostly because I had a coupon, but mainly because a friend of mine said it was good. For starters, you need a GPS to find the place! It is off of Beach Blvd behind Nippers on a back road. Once we found it, we parked and went in. We were happy that a group of women walked in before us because we had no idea what to do. The menu was written on the wall (chalkboard) and there was no sign or anything telling us to order at the counter. Weird. We ordered and went to sit down. At first we sat outside, but the wind got too bad so we went in. The view is beautiful and we even saw a guy and his dog paddle boarding! Our food came out pretty fast (we were the only 2 tables in there at noon, red flag). I got the Scallops and was shocked to find out that they were bay scallops, and there were only about 10 of them....for $16. I was very upset about this. If they are not regular scallops, you need to list them as bay scallops. If I would have known, I would never have ordered it. I opted for them grilled to save a few calories. When they came out, they were swimming in butter...there goes that idea. For my sides I got broccoli and fries. There was 10 tons of broccoli and it was undercooked. The fries looked and tasted like the frozen kind in the supermarket. My husband got the Coconut Shrimp with double fries. He said the shrimp were pretty good. The verdict: Don't waste your time or money. This place is way too expensive and you don't find out until go pay that they are cash only. I never carry cash, but luckily I had some from when a coworker paid me back for something, or we would have been screwed. The food is not great and the service is iffy. Just check out the Urbanspoon/Yelp rating and the reviews, they are not wrong.

Cool location, sort of out of the way. Got lured in by coupons, like most people seem to. The food was pretty standard fried seafood faire, but the manager was very difficult to deal with. He tried to figure out a way to get out of allowing us to use a coupon, but after 15 minutes of talking to our server and our server running to the manager (he refuses to speak with customers), he finally relented. Just took the fun out of the entire meal. It is a shame, it is such a pretty natural setting and the food is average to good, but I guess we were already warned. Caveat Emptor.
